Analysing and Using Data course 2023/24

Target Audience

This course is aimed at primary school headteachers and senior leader.

Primary School Course Content

  • The IDSR 2023
  • Using the Analysing School Performance (ASP) website
  • Collecting and analysing internal data across core and foundation subjects
  • Completing the HS10 2023 (which is an automated Excel spreadsheet you will be given on the course). This automatically colour-codes according to the size of your cohorts when compared to national data and is very simple to use for senior leadership team meetings and meetings with governors.  Please note a free version of this is currently available on the ‘Downloads’ page of this website. The one given out on the course will be an updated version.
  • Completing the Pupil Progress Meeting Proformas, which will be given out on the course. These are automated Excel spreadsheets which enable leaders and teachers to track pupils’ attainment and progress based on their end of previous key stage prior attainment in each single subject of reading, writing and maths. This helps to check that cohorts are achieving well enough compared to the national progress.
  • Completing the HS13-15 Excel Spreadsheets which help senior and EYFS leaders to evaluate attainment in detail across the EYFS.

The course will be in two sections. The morning will be spent on the ISDR, ASP, the overall understanding of how to use the different spreadsheets (which can be downloaded prior to the course, but for which the passwords will only be given on the course).

This is officially a half day course (and is priced accordingly). The afternoon is optional (and free)! From around 12 noon delegates are welcome to stay until 3pm to complete any of the Spreadsheets (or all if you are very efficient) with me to assist and discuss any data isses with you. However, if you intend to stay, please bring with you a packed lunch. (Tea, coffee and biscuits provided).

If you have an old HS10 or PPMs, please bring them with you so that you can copy and paste old data from them (which is quicker than typing it in again). Most leaders attend in at least pairs, so that the discussions about the impact on school improvement can take place and so that the completion of the spreadsheets is very efficient.

Please make sure that you bring with your a fully charged laptop, user names/ passwords for your IDSR and ASP (and I suggest you bring a download with you as well – from APS you can download the 2023/24 full report) and access to your school internal data for the end of 2023 as well as current data. There will be WIFI in the room.
